Bag Pre-Check

As in 2021, runners in 2022 have the option to pre-check a bag at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park on Friday, November 4 and Saturday, November 5 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and retrieve it in the post-finish area on race day after they finish their race.

Registration for bag pre-check closed on September 15.

Please note that runners will NOT be able to check a bag at the start on race morning and have it transported to the finish.

Runners who pre-check a bag can retrieve that bag after they finish the race in the post-finish area. The bag retrieval location will be on Central Park West between West 70th Street and West 71st Street. Starting at 7:00 p.m., unclaimed bags will be at West Drive and the 72nd Street Cross Drive in Central Park; they will be removed after 8:00 p.m., secured overnight, and will be available on Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the finish line.

Please note:

  • The bag you check must be the official pre-check bag you will receive at the TCS New York City Marathon Expo Presented by New Balance; no other bags will be accepted at bag pre-check.
  • Please review our Security Measures page for a list of prohibited items; you may not check these items. 
  • You will not have the option to check a bag at the start on race day for transport to the finish.
  • Bag pre-check will be located at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park; enter the park at either 5th Avenue at East 72nd Street or Central Park West at West 72nd Street.
  • Bag pre-check will close at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 5.
  • All finishers, regardless of bag pre-check selection, will receive a poncho in the post-finish area.



Attention, TCS New York City Marathon runners,

The race-day forecast is for unseasonably warm and humid conditions. At its warmest, the weather could reach the mid-70s Fahrenheit (low 20s Celsius). Today we’re writing with two messages: One, we want to share guidance for running in warm weather; and two, we want to share what we’re doing to help support you.

Tips from Our Medical Director

Follow this guidance for running in warm, humid weather:

  • Start the race well hydrated and remember to drink fluids when you are thirsty. Fluid stations are located throughout the course and handheld and waist hydration packs are permitted.
  • Wear light fabrics (think shorts and a singlet or a moisture-wicking T-shirt).
  • Don’t start too fast, and slow down if you start to heat up.
  • If you feel faint, dizzy, disoriented, or your skin is clammy and abnormally hot or cold, slow down or stop running. If symptoms continue, stop running and seek help at a medical station (located every mile starting at mile 3).
  • Protect yourself from the sun by wearing a hat with a brim and running in the shade where possible.

Be aware that you may not be acclimated to the weather we expect on Sunday.

How We’ll Support You on Course

Fluid Stations
Flow Alkaline Spring Water will be available at 21 official fluid stations every mile from mile 3 to mile 25, except at miles 5, 7, and 9 (where there are medical stations with fluids and ice).

Gatorade® Endurance Formula™ Lemon-Lime Flavor will be available at official fluid stations every mile from mile 3 to mile 25, except at miles 5, 7, and 9.

Bananas will be available at miles 21 and 23.

Science in Sport Energy Gels will be available along the course at miles 12 and 18.

Misting Stations
We are adding 9 misting stations along the course in Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, and the Bronx to help cool you down.

Medical Stations
25 medical aid stations are located every mile starting at mile 3 and at the finish.

We have added more fluids at fluid stations and more ice at medical stations.

Event Alert System (EAS)
We will also have a color-coded Event Alert System (EAS) flags at the start and next to every medical station. We use this system to communicate the status of course conditions:

  • Green flag – Excellent conditions – run as you wish
  • Yellow flag – Less than ideal conditions – slow down a bit
  • Red flag – Significant issues with conditions – slow down and be prepared to stop
  • Black Flag – The race is stopped – stop running and listen for instructions

Please familiarize yourself with the EAS prior to the race. On Sunday, remain alert for directions from race officials and take precautions to adjust to varying weather and course conditions.

    훈련을 충분히 하셨다면 자신의 좋은 기록도 바라볼 수 있겠지요.허지만 어떤 사정으로 인해 훈련을 게흘리 하셨다면 후반에 지옥으로 가는 맛을 볼 수있습니다.
