Greetings Runners Worried About Sunday's Weather!
Well, the good news is that heat will not be a problem. However, the weather may indeed be an issue for you on Sunday. I have been checking multiple forecasts and have blended them together into the following: 40 degrees at the start, 50 degrees at noon - 70% chance of rain. Ugh. If the rain holds off, the temps will actually be quiet good for a marathon. My advice is to plan for rain but keep checking the forecast.

If it's raining, most runners will don a hat of some type. There will probably be running gloves for sale at the Expo. If you are worried about your hands being cold, you may want to throw the rattiest pair of sweat socks you have over your hands. If you do so, please discard them at an aid station rather than tossing them on someone's lawn.

Under the, "Besides that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?" category, here are a few other odds and ends for you:
Start - You can stay inside warm Forest City High School until a few minutes before the gun goes off. If it is raining, it will be packed and be hot. Please be courteous to those around you. Nudity will be frowned upon.
Peeing - The high school is in a rural area. Please do not pee inside the school. The plumbing can't handle gifts from hundreds of runners. Go outside and use one of the 90 porta lavs. You won't melt. Also, as noted in a previous e-mail, do not pee ON Forest City High School.
Parking at Start - DO NOT drive to the start and leave your car there. We do not provide return transportation to the start after the race.
Buses - they leave from Downtown Scranton at the intersection of Wyoming Avenue and Spruce Street starting at 5:30 a.m. Last bus leaves at 6:45 a.m. You snooze, you lose. You do not have to show a bib to get on board but only registered runners should get on the busses.
Downtown Parking - meters are free but do not park at a meter with a No Parking sign on it. You will be towed. Also, the downtown garages with no humans that only use pay stations/kiosks will be open at a special $5 rate for 8 hours all day on Saturday and Sunday.

Expo - opens at 11:00 a.m. and closes at 5:30 p.m. Scranton High - 63 Mike Munchak Way, Scranton. BRING YOUR I.D. A friend can pick up your packet. They will be asked to show their I.D. and sign for your packet. If you can't make the expo, you can get your packet inside the high school at the start on race morning.

Finish - the federal building is on your right as soon as you cross the finish. Please only go inside for medical assistance or to get a massage. We simply do not have enough room for runners to go inside just to get out of the rain.
Food Tent - there will be hot food at the finish but please do not linger under the food tent as we need to keep the line moving.
Baggage tent - will be on Spruce Street this year. You will see it as soon as you exit the food tent/finish area. Suggest you pack some warm, water repellant stuff in your bag.
